Was feeling depressed because I recently learned I have Celiac Disease (a gluten intolerance). Was bumming thinking about all the foods I can no longer eat. Out of the blue, a friend showed up on my doorstep with a grocery bag FULL of gluten-free snacks and goods. They even taste good! I got Nicked! #getnicked ... thank, friend!

DOG GETS "NICKED"
I was taking my regular early morning walk. As I approached McDonalds I saw a semi loaded with hay and could hear and see a dog howling from inside the cab. The driver had obviously gone inside to order some food. He left the driver side window partially open. The dog had apparently jumped up on the open window. Its paw had slid forward and was wedged between the window and the door frame and he was obviously in pain. I jumped up on the step and slid its paw back up and out of the window. There you go pooch, you've been "nicked". I didn't have any "nickets" to leave behind. But I doubt if the dog would have come to this site to say how it had been "nicked" anyway.

Am enjoying NICKING co-workers with baked goodies and treats. It's amazing how a little treat can make someone's day. Thanks Nick, for reminding us how a simple gesture can spread so many smiles.

Jamie is a colleague of mine, and my family was excited to again be part of this fun activity! We "nicked" our neighbors by delivering homemade cookies to them. My girls made "goody bags" for their teachers and staff at school. They were giddy when they came home, as they shared their stories of delivering them. My oldest summed it up best when she said, "It was so incredibly fun to start out the day doing nice things! It helped make for the best day!"

Was gone from my desk for about 30 seconds this morning and came back to some treats that will help get me through the day!

My daughter received an anonymous bag of treats on monday at school with the "Nicked" card. She is to shy to share this but I thought it was an awesome gesture and excited to pay it forward.

My boys and I enjoyed "nicking" our neighborhood friends with homemade choc chip cookies and hot chocolate. The boys would ring the bell, wait for them to answer and scream "you've been nicked!" We were nicked in return with some crystal light!

Nick was a student of mine and I am honored to be able to remember the great person he was. Your memory is helping all of us stop amd be a little bit more thankful for each and every day! Miss you Nick!

I was "Nicked" this morning at work--when I checked my mailbox I found a beautifully wrapped box of chocolates with a "Nicket" sticking out--this was such a great way to start my day and has inspired me to go out and "Nick" people this weekend to pay it forward. I am honored to be part of such a wonderful movement in honor of a wonderful person who inspired so many!

I was just "Nicked" for the second time TODAY! A co-worker bought lunch for a group of us that get together on Fridays--it was a great surprise and a very thoughtful gesture. Will definitely be passing it on this weekend!

This project is a wonderful reminder that such a small gesture can make such a big difference in someone's life. Nick was a friend of mine at MSUM and I can't even begin to list the ways he positively impacted my life. It was an honor to go out and "Nick" people today! :)

We nicked some awesome teachers at the Missouri Valley School by delivering goodies to snack on at school this week. The next day, we were nicked by a teacher who delivered a breakfast pizza to our classroom during 1st period! It made our day. We love nicking others, and getting nicked! Thanks :)

I got "Nicked"! My husband (Nick's cousin) was out of town for a few days and left me with our 5 month old baby boy and 4 year old black lab. Needless to say the puppy gets a bit neglected when there is only one of us as the 5 month old takes all of the attention. My father-in-law came over before I got home from work and took our pup out play 2 days in a row! He left behind a "You've been Nicked" card :) It made these two days so much easier on me and our pup was happy to get some exercise. It is such a beautiful thing to see Nick's dream of making people happy live on.

My daughter got Nicked today at the grocery store. She was given a little teddy bear holding a heart. The employee that gave her the bear said another customer handed it to her and asked her to give it to the first little girl she saw. I don't think she knew just how touched the Mom would be with this action. I recently lost my job and had to pull her out of daycare to help save money and was a bit sad walking by all the Valentine's day things knowing she won't be attending any fun parties this year and I really don't have the money to buy her a valentine. That little bear sure melted my heart. I told my daughter what this was all about and she started coming up with idea's on how we can Nick someone too. This is a great movement that is happening and a great way to make someone smile. We both can't wait to Nick someone tomorrow! Thank you to the kind woman that wanted a little girl to smile (as well as her mom!!)<3

I was able to “Nick” the student workers at the college where I work. I prepared an envelope which each of their name’s on it and gave them a small amount of cash. I also included a note to tell them to ‘splurge’ on something fun for themselves. I gave them to their supervisor for her to give to them as they came in to work. My office is near the front desk so I was able to hear many of their comments. “Whoa…this is for me?”, “wow…who would do this”, “why would someone do this for me?”, “this is so sweet – I really want to know who did this so I can thank them”. She went on to explain she had no idea where they came from and then they talked about ‘random acts of kindness’ and listened how they could possibly do something in the future for someone also. She explained it doesn’t always need to be monetary. It was so fun to listen to these young minds and the reactions they had to this simple act on my part. I thought of Nick being a college student who also had times when cash was in short supply and how excited he would have been to receive a little extra cash to maybe buy a cup of coffee.

Our family just made a donation to the Nick Wieme Improv Scholarship in order to NICK the scholarship's next recipient. Improv was one of Nick's passions and he was a heck of an artist. I'm certain Nick's good vibes will lead the scholarship's next recipient to similar successes and enjoyment!

I was thinking of leaving money at the car wash. So I did that and I think it will start a chain so it will keep going.

My sister and I "nicked" my neighbor on Sunday with chocolate cookies. First we baked cookies then we drove over then we went inside the house and they were home! So we quickly put them around the corner and ran into the car and drove home! The next day they called and was wondering if they saw anybody go by even though it was us.

in the aftermath of the snow we received on Tuesday - while waiting for my car to warm up at the park-n-ride I brushed off the snow from several other cars. I didn't see the owners faces when they arrived at their cars but if it had been me I would have been pleasantly surprised!

I was "nicked" by a perfect stranger who gave me a ride to my home AND BACK! to pick up my spare car keys that I accidentally locked in my running car while I was brushing off my vehicle and others.

I got “Nicked” on February 14th by Brent Hoesing. Both Brent and I are in a dissertation seminar that takes place during four Saturday’s within January and February. The problem for me is that I am from Rapid City and have to commute to Vermillion for these all-day seminars. The first class entailed no new information—it was all repeated material from the prerequisite class for the dissertation seminar EDAD 810. The second class, however, we only met from 9:15 until 1 o’clock, when the class is supposed to meet from 9-5. The rationale for getting out so early in our second session was because of the inclement weather. On February 14th the disastrous weather conditions were swiftly approaching South Dakota from the south. Thus, the instructor let us out early at one. Well, given that the commute takes me a conservative 13 hour drive, I was somewhat frustrated that I had to drive across the state only to have to turn back without learning anything novel. Unfortunately the weather became so horrendous that parts of the interstate were closed in addition to various other streets in Rapid City.
I have never witnessed weather like that on the 14th of February. It went from rain, to sleet to snow in a matter of minutes. I passed several cars in the ditches along with noticing numerous crashes. Well, by the time I got to Kadoka I found myself in the ditch as well. Thankfully I wasn’t injured too badly, although I did have to see a chiropractor a half dozen times. What’s more I had to pay to get my car fixed. So, I drove across the state to learn obligatory information for dissertation writing and learned absolutely nothing as class had ended far too prematurely. Then, after having wasting my time, resources etcetera I ended up in a ditch injuring both my body and my car. I sent out an e-mail asking any of the 25 students in our class, a vast majority of which are principals, superintendents, professors and so on and I only got two replies. I had asked if anyone would be willing to record the lecture via their smart phone. Well only two people even responded out of the entire class one of which was Brent Hoesing, whom I knew only tangentially. He coincidentally was sitting next to me in class on that fateful day in February but we only shortly exchanged pleasantries and introduced ourselves to one another. To put it another way, he really doesn’t even know me. Well he was one of the only two people that responded. There are several individuals in our class that I know and have helped out in prior classes (e.g. statistics) and I didn’t even hear from them. Brent however, not only was he willing to vocally record the lecture, he was willing to videotape the class for me.
He pulled out all the stops, even going as far as utilizing a tripod for stability. Given that recording such an elongated seminar would take up too much space he found out a way to both stream and rewatch what he had recorded through a website called “The Cube.” I have trouble seeing from distances and so during the class he even moved his tripod to accommodate my needs. I was so taken aback by all that he did for me I cannot adequately express in words how thankful I was. I insisted that I pay him back in some way by purchasing a gift card or what have you but he would not accept any gifts. I wish there were more people in the world like Brent and Nick, we would all be better off because of such empathetic, compassionate, helpful, genuinely sincere individuals. Thank you Brent for “Nicking” me.
