There's nobody like Nick. He was creative, humourous and loving.

Great Nick story. We're up at the cabin, Nick comes running outside from the cabin with a football, "hey guys, go deep!" he yells while gesturing. In his stellar athleticism (a blessing to all us Wieme's) Nick drops back to throw and, in an attempt to throw towards us, the ball flies off the side of his hand and directly into the heavily wooded area near the lake. Nick nods his head, smirks, and says "ok let's go inside" and walks back in. To this day we've never found that football. But one day we will. Oh yes, one day...

Nick once gave me an entire garbage bag full of movie theatre popcorn ... What a guy!

I teach with Nick's beloved brother, Jamie! I didn't know Nick but from knowing Jamie, am certain that Nick was a very special guy!
I was "Nicked" today in Missouri Valley Iowa by a student, Joe O., who generously offered to bring his favorite movie, that he just got on DVD, to share with me so that I could see it, too.

We never met Nick, but his brothers Jamie and Patrick are great friends to our son Jeff. We know and love Nick's parents and can only imagine the kind of young man he was. We feel blest to share life experiences with his wonderful family.
We were "Nicked" this past Tuesday at Krav'n's restaurant in Sioux Falls, when someone we did not know paid for our meal. We plan to "nick" someone soon.
Love to Nick and family,

We never met Nick, but his brothers Jamie and Patrick are friends with our son Jeff and his mom and dad have become dear friends of ours. We can only imagine the joy Nick brought to others. We share so much love, joy, and grief with this wonderful family.
This past Tuesday night in Sioux Falls, Denis and I were treated to dinner by another patron at the restaurant Krav'n. We did not know this person and they left before we could thank them, so I now know we were "Nicked." We plan to pass it on.

What a wonderful idea to keep Nick's spirit so close to all of us.
I have so many fond memories of Nick as a young boy. Remember when he made a special trip to my garage sale to check out my "director's" chairs. He was probably 9 or 10 years old, rode his bike to my house ready to bargain. I remember that he told me that he wanted to start producing plays and needed the chairs to set up his production studio. What a delight he was as a young energy-filled boy. Since I moved away from Pipestone during his teenage years, I had to enjoy him from a distance. I heard innumerable accounts of his talents--his wonderful sense of humor, his music, his brilliant creative mind, his endless energy. What an amazing human being and what great parents he had to encourage him and to pass on to him many of the same talents the two of you possess. Thanks so much for this opportunity to celebrate Nick, Casey and Bernie. Love, Marg Gromer Woodbury, MN

While I did not have the opportunity to meet or know Nick, I can see how wonderful a person he was, through his brother Jamie. I am excited to start "Nicking" away this week - such a terrific idea! My thoughts are with Nick's entire family during this time, and I look forward to celebrating his spirit of sharing joy!!

I was "Nicked" today by someone in his family, although I have never met nick I have seen his you tube videos and heard great stories about the kind of person he was. Being nicked was an unexpected act/gift of kindness that I couldn't shake and kept thinking about how great of an idea this is. Pebbles cause a ripple effect and this project is showing that just by doing something nice for someone and that's beautiful. From all I've heard and read nick would have continued his nicking, so I feel like I should help him out and put this in my daily routine. Thanks nick and family. I will share this with all my family and friends

"Nicking" #1 - Late Night Fam Time! Hopefully brightened the day for someone who started off with a real bummer. Had a few laughs & gave away 2 GetNicked cards. Enlisted some more Do-Gooders!!

I was "Nicked" today...been having a back & forth appreciation-fest with my work mentor. She is an amazing woman and I appreciate all that I have learned about myself through her insight and support, in the year plus we have had monthly discussions. No GetNicked cards exchanged, but showing gratitude is a significant act to share with the important people in your life. Don't hesitate to tell someone you are thankful for how much they mean to you. Also, remind yourself of all the blessings in your life to be grateful for. "Nicking" #2 & #3 to come tomorrow!!

The MVHS staff was "nicked" today. Jamie, Nick's brother, a great asset to our school, brought donuts and cookies for the staff! Awesome ideas...I am planning on keeping the "nicked" tradition alive!

I was having a terrible day and I told the barista at Starbucks when she asked me how I was so she paid for my drink then wrote down this URL for me. Thank you, Nick. I'll pay it forward somehow.

I have had the chance to share this fun activity with several middle and high school students who do not always engage in positive social skills. They had an overwhelmingly positive response to the charge that was given them, and they were so excited to share their Nickets! The students attend the school where Nick's brother, Jamie, teaches, which gave them a personal connection to the project. They are hopeful that people will post as they share their Nickets.

On a personal note, my daughter was talking with me at the end day , sharing about all the girls in her 4th grade class that are mean which had her in a funk. I changed the subject and told her about this project. She went from being down in the dumps to super excited about all the fun, nice things she could be doing and having a much more positive outlook for today. Thanks for giving my daughter a way to look for the positive in life!!

Paid for a number of coffees at McDonald's yesterday and got manager's permission for each recipient to get a Nicket when they get their free coffee. Gal behind the counter got into the (Nick's) spirit and was a great help. Left feeling blessed myself! Great remembrance of a great guy!

I work with Nick's brother Jamie, and I was nicked today by a fellow co-worker and friend. She knows I'm going through a rough time with my Dad in the hospital so she "Nicked" me and brought me an angel statue, what a nice surprise that was. It made my day! I also plan to "nick" someone soon!
What a great idea!

My parents "nicked" us by watching our kids so we could go out for supper and spend some time together as a couple. This came out of the blue.

More "Nicking" from this week while @ work.

Organized a work outing to celebrate a fantastic team member. Her attitude & contribution will be missed as she takes on a new professional challenge. Reached out to another former staffer to surprise the group & help celebrate. It was a good turnout & a great time!

Took the opportunity to recognize 3 fellow BOTW employees for jobs well done.

My "Nicking" efforts this weekend, involved making time to spend with my family and friends this weekend and it was great! Laundry can sit another few days, I say!! Joined an already in progress Friday post-work lady hangout...even added some regular time for future Happy Hours. Caught up with a wonderful friend over a long lunch on Saturday. I love that we can always seem to pick up where we left off. Had the distinct pleasure of watching my nieces sing the 'Frozen' soundtrack for about 2 solid hours - their performance was completely adorable! While out Saturday night, made a designated driving drop-off to save my friends some cab fare. Then, solved the world's problems over a few (losing) games of Keno.

With the impending snow storm, I'm not sure I'll be able to get out and do one of my most important "GetNicked" actitivies for a few days. May need to wait for slightly better weather - but it will be a good one. Very much looking forward to it, as I feel that I am long overdue...

Just donated to a fundraising event for my Bro and will be heading over to my parents' tomorrow, to help my Mom with a tech-lesson. It is amazing how often we give to others, just as a part of our regular daily lives. I have enjoyed reading the blog comments, posts, and memories shared at http://getnicked.blogspot.com/. While the week of "Nicking" is over, I will take away from the past week a sense of gratitude for the times I am able to share and appreciation for the times when others reach out to support me. We are all blessed. Sending my love and thanks to the Wieme family, for wanting to honor Nick in such a special way.
