After beating my mom, dad, and grandma and grandpa at bowling I Nicked a family of four with a $10 gift card to Orange Leaf frozen yogurt, hope it's yummy. Miss you Uncle Nick!

We owned the Quarry Twin Theatre for many years. Nick worked for us his last years of high school. Oh the stories we could tell :-). :-) What a fun night when Nick's The System premiered at the theatre -- it was quite an event. Nick even held his graduation reception in the theatre lobby. Our daughter and son-in-law also worked at the theatre and Rod had a part in The System Trilogy. So we "Nicked" them by inviting their three young sons for supper tonight so Jenny and Rod could take time in their busy life for a date. Nick was very important to them, also. Time is a funny thing. Nick always promised us he would premier his big movie at the Quarry Twin. We, and Nick too ,I am sure ,always thought it was an event to look forward to --- not one that had already happened. And that is a life lesson to always remember.

Sooo... Quite the Nicking experience to report from Council Bluffs, IA. I am Nick's sister-in-law. Last night we Nicked a family at a bowling alley (reported here previously). I get a phone call from my dad, Steve, this morning, who was bowling with us... turns out, he wore someone else's shoes home from the lanes last night only to realize it this morning. We have a sinking feeling that these shoes belong to the father of the very family we Nicked. Sir, if you're reading this, please leave a comment so we can get in touch........ If Nick could come back from Heaven and do some Nicking, I imagine it'd probably go something like this.

BOWLING SHOES UPDATE!!! Literally minutes after previous post I spoke to my dad, Steve, the shoe stealer. He was reffing indoor soccer today and ran into the guy from the bowling alley and said "I think I have your shoes". The gentlemen responded "I think I have yours, I had to have something to wear home last night". So, a happy ending. These two guys had never seen each other before, now on back to back days... Nick, you work in mysterious ways.

I went to a coffee shop and gave the barista money to pay for the next customer's cup of coffee. I also left a "nicket" for that customer in hopes they would pass it forward.

I brought goodies to a person who
just had surgery. I told her she
had been "nicked"! May Nick's love
of life never be forgotten.

During one of the coldest winters in the Midwest, I decided to honor my garbage man with some warm bread on a -5 degree morning. He is someone I count on to take care of me and I never take the time to let him know how much I appreciate his hard work. From what I know of Nick, he would be happy a person who often sits in the backgound of people's lives was given the thanks he deserves!

I didn't know Nick but am inspired by his story and this blogspot. I try to do a good deed daily but some days I forget. Last night I made lunches for the homeless at my son's elementary school, and tonight we'll pack food for the hungry in third world countries. Life is precious and we must help those less fortunate than us. Thanks for the Nicket and I will pass mine along!

Left a $20 bill and 6 "Nickets" with the bartender at the Castaways bar in Sioux Falls, SD. I told him to treat the next 6 thirsty people to a drink and give them a "Nicket." Cheers!

I went to the Dollar store and left several dollar bills hidden among the toy section with a Nicket stapled to the bill. I am hoping little kids find these dollar bills!

I was at work when Nick was introduced to me and it couldn't have came at a more perfect time. I've always had a passion for helping others, but it is the 'random acts of kindness' that truly sticks with a person. So Nick, thank you very much. Your spirit will continue to influence me. Keep having fun up there.

I was Nicked at the Mo. Valley High School by a friend who added a beautiful angel to my collection along with a card that totally made my week! She is cherished and is always Nicking others so embodies the spirit!

While waiting in an ice cream shop parking lot for the next Nicking "victim", my motorized side view mirror started moving on its own; weird, and never happened before. After the Nicking, I pulled out of the parking lot and the first sign I see says "Stop and see our Knick-Knacks" ..... It seems I had company while Nicking today. Thanks for checking in, buddy, we sure do miss you.

While at Dulles Airport checking into my flight, I spot a family of six. There were four kids (the oldest maybe 7) and they had a push cart full of luggage to check. Each bag they would check would cost an additional fee. I asked a favor from my ticket counter lady (slipped her cash and a Nicket) and asked her to cover the price of a couple of their checked bags and then hand them the Nicket.

To the mom and dad, your kids were so well behaved and kind - Hope you have a wonderful vacation wherever y'all ended up!

Left a thank you card with some cash for a young man who had waited on us at Olive Garden, who was very kind and considerate to us. I left him a nicket in the thank you card in hope he passes it on.

I was 'Nicked" at work when someone brought me a plate of homemade cookies and a Nicket! Now, I'm off to "Nick" someone in line at the Subway in Nick's hometown!

I sent my daughter some cash so she could enjoy the Super Bowl at a downtown Denver pub....and told her to consider herself "Nicked" Pretty sure there was a toast or 2 to Nick that day!

I know it is February 18th but I absolutely LOVE this idea and I wanted to take part in it!

I was at Subway in Marshall today thinking about anything and everything in life while I was in the drive through and Nick popped into my head! I didn't have a Nicket on me but I did have a STICKY NOTE! :) I was at the drive through window and paid for my meal, was given my food and then I paid for the food that the vehicle behind me ordered. I wrote on the sticky note "You've been NICKED!" and then I put the URL on there hoping they will go to the blog to read and learn about Nick and this wonderful way to pay it forward. =) I asked the cashier to give the sticky note to them.

I hope their life was touched just a little, just the way Nick touched so many peoples lives.

NICKED AT A WENDY'S DRIVE THRU
I totally got Nicked the other day by a complete stranger, which made it feel more like it being from Nick. So it was a Monday morning and I was on my way to work and was starving so I decided to stop by a Wendy's, as I drove up to the drive thru, I noticed a line of cars, so I embraced myself for having to wait for a while. As I pull up to the line of cars, a car simultaneously pulls up from the alley. So there is that awkward moment of "is that guy gonna cut in front of me?" Trying to be nice I decide to let him go first, no reason to get angry especially over fast food. When the line of cars start to move I do the "go ahead" hand gesture and let the car go in front of me not thinking much more of it. I then take a long time deciding what to get, cause I normally don't eat fast food, almost as long as this post if not longer. Finally I order and drive up to the window, the girl passes me my drink and bag of food before I hand her my card, when I try to hand her my card, she informs me that the car that was in front of me paid for my lunch. I was surprised, yet that simple act of kindness made my day and rest of the week, just thinking about it right now makes me happy. So I decided to pay for the next persons order. I don't know how long this went on for but it made a few strangers happy, me included. Right away I felt like it was such a Nick thing to do, random act of kindness to a complete stranger. As I'm writing this I notice there is another post about Nicking someone in a drive thru and I just got another smile. Thanks Nick for all the smiles you continue to give us.
